Ileal and Faecal Amino Acids Digestibility of Some Tropical Feedstuffs in Growing Pigs
نویسنده
چکیده
To investigate apparent ileal and faecal digestibility of protein and amino acids in some tropical feedstuffs, six barrows, average initial body weight (BW) 25 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed six diets according to a 6 × 6 Latin square design. Three monodiets which three types of cereal, broken rice, rice bran and corn, as the protein source and three cornstarchbased diets using soybean meal, peanut meal and fishmeal as the protein sources and containing 12 % crude protein were used. Chromic oxide was included as a digestibility marker. After a 5 days adaptation period, faeces were collected for 3 days and followed with 12 hours digesta collection for 2 days in each experimental period. Apparent digestibility values over the total tract were found to be greater than values determined at the ileum, indicating a net disappearance of both nitrogen and amino acids in the hind gut. It was also observed that the apparent faecal and ileal digestibilities of nitrogen and amino acids in growing pigs was highest in soybean meal and ricebran showed the lowest values.

Apparent or Standardized Ileal Digestibility of Amino Acids of Diets Containing Different Protein Feedstuffs Fed at Two Crude Protein Levels for Growing Pigs
The current study determined the apparent or standardized ileal digestibility of amino acids (AID or SID of AA) in growing pigs fed diets containing three protein feedstuffs with different fiber characteristics at two dietary crude protein (CP) levels. Twenty boars (Yorkshire×Landrace) with average initial body weight of 35 (±2.6) kg were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum. Thes...
متن کاملThe concept of digestible amino acids in diet formulation for pigs
There is sufficient evidence that ileal rather than fecal amino acid digestibility values provide a more reliable estimate of protein digestion and amino acid absorption. In addition to differences in ileal amino acid digestibility values between feedstuffs there are large differences in ileal amino acid digestibility values within the same feedstuff. Furthermore, in addition to different proce...
متن کاملDetermination of apparent ileal amino acid digestibility in barley and canola meal for pigs with the direct, difference, and regression methods.
Three methods were evaluated for the determination of apparent ileal digestibility values of amino acids in feedstuffs with a low protein (barley, 10.2% CP) and a high protein content (canola meal, 38.2% CP). Five barrows, average initial BW 40 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed five diets according to a 5 x 5 Latin square design. Diet 1 contained 42.7% canola m...
متن کاملAmino acid availability: aspects of chemical analysis and bioassay methodology.
It is important to be able to characterise foods and feedstuffs according to their available amino acid contents. This involves being able to determine amino acids chemically and the conduct of bioassays to determine amino acid digestibility and availability. The chemical analysis of amino acids is not straightforward and meticulousness is required to achieve consistent results. In particular a...
متن کاملEstimating endogenous amino acid flows at the terminal ileum and true ileal amino acid digestibilities in feedstuffs for growing pigs using the homoarginine method.
True ileal lysine digestibilities were determined using the homoarginine (HA) method in casein-, barley-, canola meal-, and barley-canola meal-based diets fed to growing pigs. Four Yorkshire barrows (25 to 49 kg BW) equipped with ileal T-cannulas were fed one of the diets according to a 4 x 4 Latin square design. All diets, except for the barley diet, were formulated to be similar in DE:CP rati...
